Social Media and Emotional Well-being: Pursuit of Happiness or Pleasure

Virtual engagement of lives has been made possible with the advent social media. Almost 80% day are spent virtually on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, etc. Usage media to connect and communicate ones we care about is always healthy, termed as networking. Social dysfunction occurs when constant communication leads point where our real or offline life gets replaced by virtual online life. There a slight boundary between networking dysfunction. When advantageous, affects emotional well-being. well-being affected, many users experience compulsion dissociate from world they find world, full fantasy enjoyment. Internet was created, perhaps no one aware its potential. More than convenience for sharing information it brought so close crumbling geographical boundaries. The more people-to-people is, strengthening relationships, bonds grow stronger ‘more’ platforms. Being platforms become benchmark living amidst younger generation. Either an activity happiness pleasure, tend use at varying levels. This paper aims conceptualize intricacies in young discern whether their association pleasure activity. research method this mixed-methods design combining data structured survey outputs in-depth interviews.
